Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain's nerve cells, or neurons, resulting in loss of memory, thinking and language skills, and behavioral changes.

"Proceeds from the sale of these products support the programs and services of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and its member organizations."
November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month and you can help just by doing some Christmas shopping at the Alzheimer's Foundation eStore. What a wonderful way to find a holiday gift that will mean so much more for everyone involved the giver and the receiver. The many caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease give from the deepest recesses of their hearts, inspiring the world with their untiring dedication, helping others with hope and courage. During the holidays it is a great way to show you care by helping out by either a donation or by a purchase from the e-store.Finding a cure for Alzheimer's is very important but the care that these individuals need must not be over looked. They deserve quality care and your purchases can help out immensely with this as well as with their families needs. Why should you support the Alzheimer's Foundation well there are so many reasons . One being that you or one of your own family may find out they have Alzheimer's . For your information they Alzheimer's Foundation also will be giving free memory screenings on November 13 th, 2007 to find at more about those free screening please visit their website National Memory Screening Your support is critical in helping to improve quality of life for individuals with the disease and their families.Early recognition can improve quality of life. Individuals can learn more about the disease, get counseling and other social services support, address legal and financial issues, and have more of a say about their care.
It is very important to identify the disease or problem that is causing memory loss. You should also follow up with a complete checkup by your doctor or another qualified healthcare professional. While there currently is no cure for Alzheimer's disease, available and emerging medical treatments may slow the progression of symptoms. The medications have been proven to work better the earlier they are given to patients with Alzheimer's.Another project that the Alzheimer's Foundation has been working on is the Excellence in Care. This new program helps facilities in obtaining
the highest standards of care for people with dementia and serves as a resource to caregivers looking for the best facility for their loved ones.
